Missy Greenleaf Flinn
I’m a gardener with deep roots in both the soil and the spirit of the land. As a Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteer, I have received intensive horticultural training and work in gardens across Central Ohio, including tending the Heritage Garden at the Ohio Governor’s Residence. I specialize in native plants and love helping others discover native alternatives to conventional nursery choices—solutions that honor biodiversity, sustainability, and the character of place.
My approach to gardening is shaped by my studies in eco-theology at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, where I earned a Master of Divinity degree. I believe every landscape has its own spirit, and that gardening can be a way to listen, respond, and participate in that sacred dialogue.
At Urban Gaia, I bring a holistic perspective rooted in hands-on experience, ecological awareness, and spiritual reflection. I love getting my hands in the dirt, planting and tending, and even find joy in the slow, meditative work of weeding and pruning. I’ve found healing and connection through gardens—at my home, Oak House, and in both public and private green spaces—and I’m passionate about helping others experience that same sense of peace and possibility.
You can also find my reflections on gardening and spirituality on my Substack, Highways & Hedges.
I want to help you in your garden.
